Wednesday October 28: German driver Stefan Hagin will join the China CTIC Team for the forthcoming Grand Prix of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 27th-29th.
His appearance in a Moore boat for the operation that currently lies fifth in the Teams’ Championship in this year’s UIM F1H2O World Championship will see a third racer line up alongside lead driver Peter Morin in the last four Grand Prix. With Brent Dillard still recovering from back surgery, Grant Trask represented the team at the opening round in Indonesia and Canadian Kyle Maskall took the helm of the second boat for the back-to-back races in China earlier this month.
Hagin, 37, resides in Wittlingen in Germany and made his powerboat racing debut in 2005. His crowning glory so far was winning the 2022 UIM F2 World Championship but, for the last two seasons, he has been working as a performance coach and acting as a reserve pilot in the E1 series before graduating to a seat for the Monaco round of that championship.
After satisfying his early desire for speed in the karting discipline, his on-water career began in F5 in 2005 before he entered F4 for Team Germany, winning the Formula 4 Cup in 2008 and 2009, the same season that he became German and World F4 champion. An F4 European title followed in 2010 and he represented the F1 Atlantic Team as an F4-S driver on the world stage.
In 2011, he switched to a seat with Team Rowe Powerboat in F2 and was the German champion in that discipline in 2018 and 2019 after working as the reserve driver for the F1 Atlantic Team in the UIM F1H2O World Championship in 2017.
Baltic F2 champion in 2021, Hagin also worked with Team Dillard in the USA NGK Formula 1 Championship.
