Sunday, 13 August, HARBIN (China): Jeremy Brisset bounced back after yesterday’s engine issues ruined his race and stormed to victory in race 2 in the F4-S Championship in Harbin to secure third place on the podium.
The F1 Atlantic driver topped the time sheets in qualifying and led from pole unchallenged for the 25 laps, taking the chequered flag 31.50s clear of his nearest rival to claim his second win of the year, but yesterday’s poor result proved costly and costing him the overall championship lead.
Yesterday’s race winner Mansour Al Mansoori was unable to make any impression on the race leader but second place today gave the Emirates Racing driver overall victory in Harbin and a slender one point lead in the championship standings, with Abu Dhabi’s Mohamed Al Mehairbi sealing the Harbin runners-up slot with third place.
It was a topsy-turvy race for the young Australian driver Louise Vella dropping back from second off the pontoon to fourth at the start and then all the way back to eighth before starting a gutsy fight back to eventually finish in fourth for Team Sweden.
CTIC F1 Shenzhen driver Wu Bingchen made up places after the start lap to move from fifth to third and held station until lap 20 when he hooked his boat and dropped back to finish in fifth spot, with Victory’s Mohamed Al Yamahi moving up from ninth to sixth.
