Saturday, January 10: In a strategic step that further strengthens Team Abu Dhabi’s position as a global destination for marine sports and tourism, the Team Abu Dhabi powerboat team has announced the signing of world class driver Jonas Andersson to represent the team in the upcoming season of the UIM F1H2O World Championship.

‏The contract was signed at the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club in the presence of Thani Al-Qamzi, Executive Director of Team Abu Dhabi, who emphasised that the signing goes beyond just sport and represents a qualitative addition to Abu Dhabi’s journey in attracting elite international talent and reinforces its status as a capital for marine sports and tourism.

‏Al-Qamzi noted that the addition of Andersson reflects the growing global confidence in Abu Dhabi’s marine sports, supported by advanced infrastructure, professional organisation and a world-class environment capable of hosting and developing champions, while also promoting the city as a sports tourism destination.

‏He added that Team Abu Dhabi continues to operate under a clear strategic vision that links sporting achievement with tourism promotion, strengthening the emirate’s international presence through global championships that enjoy wide audience reach and highlight Abu Dhabi’s strong maritime identity and its ability to attract major international events.

‏For his part, three-time World Champion Andersson expressed pride in joining Team Abu Dhabi, affirming that representing the emirate in the championship marks an important milestone in his career and also Abu Dhabi’s prominent position on the global map of marine sports.
