Sunday, 18 November, AMARAVATI (India): Erik Start was the pace setter in this morning’s final practice session ahead of the UIM F1H2O Grand Prix of India to complete a clean sweep at the top of the time sheets by Team Abu Dhabi drivers in all practice sessions this weekend and the all-important shootout in BRM Qualifying.
Shaun Torrente, who starts today from pole position, completed just seven laps and the least of the trio, focussed on his starts and testing several different propellers and went seventh quickest, with championship leader Thani Al Qemzi third quickest and starts from fourth.
It was a good session for the Victory Team duo with Ahmed Al Hameli second quickest and Alex Carella fourth fastest and who will no doubt be looking to vent his frustrations this afternoon after being docked his best lap in Q2 in qualifying which robbed him of the chance to go for pole.
As the Abu Dhabi trio bid to extend their leads in the title race and go in pursuit of a hat-trick of podium lockouts, it is Emirates Racing’s Marit Stromoy who could spoil their party and starts from P2 and sandwiched between Torrente and Stark.
Team Amaravati’s Jonas Andersson will be looking to make up ground and give the expected tens-of-thousands of spectators something to cheer about, with Hameli starting on his outside.
