PROFILE

SAMI SELIÖ is F1H2O’s longest running driver, having burst onto the World Championship scene in 1998, winning Rookie of the Year that season. Since then, the Finn has racked up over 190 Grand Prix and achieved a record 51 podium finishes over his nearly three decades of racing at the top.

The first of those podiums came in his second season, with a third place finish at the 1999 Grand Prix of Istanbul, Turkey. However, it took Selio almost a decade in the sport to achieve his first Grand Prix victory, which came at La Rochelle, France, during the 2007 season in which he won his first World Championship. Since that maiden Grand Prix win, the Finn has gone on to claim 13 Grand Prix wins, and rack up 26 career pole positions, which is the third highest of all time in the sport.

A second World Championship came in 2010, a feat the Finn has not managed to repeat since, though he remained at the top of the table in the following seasons, including with a third place finish in 2016. With more experience than any other driver, Selio has undertaken the dual role of driver and team manager since the 2024 season, and once again fills both roles this season following his move to Comparato Racing.
