PROFILE

JONAS ANDERSSON is a three-time F1H2O World Champion who has been a constant threat at the top of the table for the last decade.

After a successful stint in the F2000 World Championship, including back-to-back titles in 2003 and in 2004, he burst onto the F1H2O scene in 2006, and maintained a steady upward trajectory ever since. Andersson’s first Grand Prix win came in St Petersburg in 2008, a season he went on to finish in third, and since then he has racked up an impressive 17 Grand Prix victories and 38 overall podium finishes. One of the fastest drivers in the Championship, he has proven his pace on countless occasions, including in the 17 career pole positions he has accrued.

The Swede won the first of his three World Championships in 2021, quickly followed by further wins in 2023 and 2024. That impressive tally has been achingly close to being even greater, with Andersson having lost out on World Championships by the finest of margins on numerous occasions. In 2019, he finished tied on 79 points with Shaun Torrente, with Torrente triumphing due to more second-place finishes. In both the 2022 and 2025 seasons, Andersson again lost out on the title to Torrente, who Andersson went toe-to-toe with until the last race of the season on both occasions, with Torrente coming out on top by just three points in 2022 and nine points in 2025.

His move to Team Abu Dhabi marks the latest twist in Andersson’s F1H2O career, hoping that Team Manager and ten-time World Champion Guido Cappellini can guide him to the fourth career World Championship he has already come so close to securing.
