PROFILE

BEN JELF is a third generation powerboat racer, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, who set him up for a lifetime of racing after he was first introduced to the sport at just nine years old.

From the age of eleven, Jelf was Britain’s most successful junior powerboat racer, claiming the title of Britain’s youngest champion and world record holder. His addiction to speed has seen him break four world and ten British powerboat speed records, including being the youngest Brit to break the 100mph speed record, and setting the British F2 and Supercat speed records at 124.27mph and 124.38mph respectively. In doing so, Ben also became the third generation in the Jelf family to achieve a coveted K7 Gold Star.

Jelf made his F1H2O debut in the final race of the 2022 season, becoming a regular from the 2023 season. His best championship finish came in 2024, coming ninth that year, but it was in the following 2025 season that he achieved his best race result, gaining a podium finish after coming third in the Grand Prix of Indonesia.
