PROFILE

ALEC WECKSTRÖM joined the F1H2O World Championship circuit in 2021, making his racing debut at the Grand Prix of San Nazzaro, Italy, for Gillman Racing. It was not a debut to remember, as Weckström finished pointless with a DNS, but his potential quickly shone through at the subsequent Grand Prix of Portugal in Figueira da Foz, in which the Finn picked up his first podium with a second placed finish.

He competed in the full 2022 season for Gillman Racing, the highlight coming from a far better result in San Nazzaro, where he gained his second podium finish having come third, and a consistent string of three continuous fourth-placed finishes to end the 2022 season that saw him place fourth in the Drivers’ Championship.

Weckström was then absent from F1H2O for the subsequent two seasons, but having shown such strong promise, a return was inevitable, and the Helsinki-based driver joined Victory Team for the 2025 season. His return to the top was immediate, securing a second place finish at the opening Grand Prix of Indonesia, and then a maiden victory at the Grand Prix of Zhengzhou, temporarily placing him at the top of the Drivers’ Championship table. Disappointing subsequent results saw him finish the 2025 season in fifth place, but having proven his pedigree as one of the sport’s future stars.
