Jeddah, Wednesday, 26 November: The driver entry list for the inaugural Grand Prix of Jeddah has been announced, ahead of the first qualifying session this Friday (27th).
German driver Stefan Hagin will be making his F1H2O debut, running alongside Peter Morin for the China CTIC team. Hagin replaces Australian rookie Kyle Maskall, who ran for the team during this season’s two Grand Prix in China.
Hagin is himself set to be replaced for the last Grand Prix of the season in Sharjah, where long-time China CTIC driver Brent Dillard is finally set to return after sitting out the season so far to recover from back surgery.
The rest of the entry list remains the same from the most recent race in Zhengzhou, where Victory Team’s Alec Weckstrom stormed to his first Grand Prix win. His triumph pushed him to the top of the championship, where he is trailed by teammate Shaun Torrente, Rusty Wyatt, and reigning world champion Jonas Andersson.
All will be hoping to pick up vital points in the first ever Grand Prix to be held in Jeddah, which opened today with a press conference, led by Pierre Haddad, the Executive Producer of Promedia Portal, who was joined by Promedia Portal Chairman Yasser Alyami and H2O Racing CEO Raimondo di San Germano. Local journalists filled the conference and had a flurry of questions for the organisers, as well as drivers Stefan Arand, Marit Stromoy, and Alec Weckstrom, who joined the stage to answer the media’s questions.
