Friday, 29 June, EVIAN (France): After a frustrating couple of races both Jonas Andersson and Bartek Marszalek will be hoping to turn their fortunes around, kick start their seasons and bank their first points of the year in Evian.
Team Sweden’s Andersson has been plagued by bad luck throughout and simply needs an untroubled weekend to get his season off the mark. “In London I broke the steering in qualifying and in the race I broke a propeller. I had an electrical issue and then hit something in practice in Portugal and then had the bump with Marit at the start of the race,” said Andersson
“I know we have good engines and the new boat is fantastic but we have just had really bad luck. I feel very good for this race and I just need a clean run and the chance to really race from the start to the end.”
Emirates Racings’ Marszalek’s Achilles heel has been his engines, limiting his time on the water in Portimao and London and despite getting through the season-opener but missing out on points in eleventh a broken engine prevented him from starting last time out. “It has been a frustrating beginning to the year but this is a different weekend another chance and I am well prepared.” He said. “I have two good engines for this weekend the boat is good so I am looking forward to a good race.”
