THANI AL QAMZI is a veteran of the tour with 152 race starts since his first event in Sharjah in 2000. He has been the model of consistency in recent seasons, finishing fourth in 2017 and 2019, third in 2018 and 2022 and narrowly missing out on the title to Jonas Andersson with second place in 2021. In 2023, he finished fifth but helped Team Abu Dhabi to the runner-up spot in the Teams’ Championship.
He has won 10 Grand Prix and taken 45 career podium finishes, his first coming in 2003, when he finished second in Germany and his last was in Sharjah in 2023.
Thani enjoyed a superb season in 2009 when he finished runner-up in the World Championship for the first time to his now team boss Guido Cappellini. On that occasion, the Abu Dhabi racer scored 143 points, with victories in Portimão, Portugal, and six podiums during the campaign. In 2023, he was third on two occasions in France and the UAE.
